British passport application – passport photo requirements

When you are applying for a British passport you must bear in mind that you will need 2 standard passport photographs. However, there are lots of requirements when you are to take a photo of yourself.

In this chapter we will introduce you to all the photo requirements there are in order for your application to be accepted.

The size of the passport photograph in a British passport should be 35 mm wide and 45 mm high.

Requirements of babies and kids

Babies, toddles and children under 6 are not required to look straight into the camera however babies and toddlers should not be visibly holding any toys and should not have any dummies in the mouth. Babies under 1 year of age are not required to have their eyes open. The head can be supported with hand however it should not be visible on the photograph.

By the time of posting the 2 photos should be separated from each other, should be left loos and not physically attached to the application form.
