Of all the types of childhood sexual abuse, the abuse of a child by a female is seldom talked about, and is probably the least understood by the general public.

Until just over a decade ago, or so, most people thought that any childhood sexual abuse by any female was extremely infrequent. Research now shows that between 5 and 15% of childhood sexual abuse victims are abused by a female only; raising to around <30% where abuse by multiple assailants that include at least one female or more.

Many of the effects of childhood sexual abuse by a female are the same as those as abuse by a male. There are extra things, in many cases when the abuser is a female, and even more so when the abuser is you own genetic female parent. (I am reluctant to use the term mother in this context due to how we are socialised to believe a mother should react to her child, yet that is who she was).

Over the coming months we will start to add links to research articles, web articles that are hard to find, and possibly also move parts to the females and males area of the site. It will take time but, we will add the here as we find them.
