 Panic Attacks - the symptoms

 

 

The brain sends out biochemical messages to the pituitary gland, which releases the hormone ATCH, which triggers the adrenal gland.
SYMPTOM - headache and dizziness.

Pupils dilate.
SYMPTOM - blurred vision and sensitivity to bright light.

Neck and shoulder muscles tense, the large skeletal muscles contract ready for action.
SYMPTOM - aching neck and backache

Mouth goes dry.
SYMPTOM - difficulty in swallowing

Heart pumps faster and blood pressure raises.
SYMPTOM - high blood pressure.

Breathing becomes faster and shallower supplying more oxygen to the muscles.
SYMPTOM - over breathing, chest pains, tingling, palpitations, asthma.

Liver releases stored sugar to provide fuel for quick energy.
SYMPTOM - excess sugar in the blood, indigestion.

Digestion slows down or ceases as blood is diverted away from the stomach.
SYMPTOM - nausea, indigestion, ulcers.

The body cools itself by perspiring, blood vessels and capillaries move closer to the skin surface.
SYMPTOM - excess sweating, blushing.

Muscles at the opening of the anus and bladder are relaxed.
SYMPTOM - frequent urination, diarrhoea.
