Some of the additional  things female survivors have to deal with

Return to Main Index | Return to Survivors Index | Return to Females Index

There are several things that females who have been abused can have problems with that male survivors do not have to face, at least to the same degree, the same as there are some things that male survivors have to face that female survivors do not have to the same degree. This does not of course denote that either group suffer more that the other, just that in some ways there are some different things that both groups have to try to deal with though of course may similar things as well.

Some of the things to come to mind are: -

  • The menstrual cycle.

  • Childbirth.

  • Breast-feeding

  • More internal examinations

  • Greater risk of urinary infections

  • The risk of pregnancy… depending on age when the abuse happened.

  • Been triggered when bathing their children (tho that does apply to dads as well).

  • Etc

Since all of these things can lead to the guilt, shame, self blame triangle, with the resultant nightmares and flashbacks that this can cause, a site like this can not afford to regard as these things too unmentionable to talk about.

There are several "female only" forums in the main forum set that such things can be openly talked about, plus soon there will be either additional articles in this section, or there will be links provided to articles already on the internet that help deal with these problems.
